Hey everyone I just picked up my first flathead 6 mopar, its a 1950 Dodge coronet coupe. This car unfortunately does not have ignition keys and I would like to try to connect a   trigger style remote ignition switch with the alligator clips to bump it to TDC and do maintenance in the engine bay. Does anyone know where I should connect this on my car?

My car still has the 6 volt system. thank you! - Ross

Your starter solenoid should have three terminals two big ones and a little one one of those alligators Clips goes on the little one and the other alligator clip goes on to the big one that has the cable hook to the battery

It does have a button on the floor Ivan but I think that's a headlight dimmer in the 1950 model? I am not entirely sure, also the main reason I would like to use the remote trigger is that I do not have any ignition keys

You probably do not have it, then. The old-fashioned starter button is located on the right-hand side above the gas pedal. It can be used to engage the starter, even without the key.

Mopar gave up the floor starter in the cars somewhere in the 40's.

I am sure by the 46 and on they had a button on the dash to activate start.

Ignition power still went  through the key switch.

What Sniper told you is the way to go with your start add-on switch.

When you want to add ignition to the action - - a jumper wire from the battery neg. post (still pos.  grounded car) to the coil neg.. terminal post will do that for you.  Do not leave connected when not trying to start car!

Get on it.

Best of luck,

DJ
