I purchased this truck from the owner that had spent 4 years of evenings/weekends getting to this condition. Driving it reminds me just how far trucks have advanced.

Yes, vehicle refinement has come a long way in 70+ years, but I still enjoy driving mine around. It has it's own charms.

Nice lookin' truck.

I'm jealous you have a floor shift .... must be a 4spd?

I specifically wanted a 1949 to get the 3spd on the floor or a 4spd is fine also .... 1950 was the first year of the 3 on the tree.

I bought it online looking at pictures & had it delivered. .... I was surprised when it showed up with a 3 on the tree.

I still love it & happy to have it. .... turns out the serial # ends with a X. This means it was built & titled as a 1949, then sent out to the dealers to put on the floor to advertise next years models.

No significant value to it, just a 1950 that was built in 1949 ...... My truck is a true 1949 that identifies as a 1950 model.

I also have a 50 with the three on the tree but the jacket around the steering shaft is broken at the bottom.

I also have a 50 with a three on the tree.  I need to get the steering wheel off so I can remove the jacket around the steering shaft it is broken on the bottom end. anyone reading this have a puller designed for the b2b to pull the steering wheel or know where I could get one one rent one?

I have also been told that a Jeep steering wheel would go on if I ruin the steering getting it off as most people have told me will happen

A bearing splitter might be the best tool .... You can get under the wheel then use a regular puller to remove the wheel ..... should cause no damage to the wheel.

others have improvised & made something to work. using 3/4" plywood & all thread etc...81rIvOg4R3L._AC_SL1387_.jpg

That’s pretty much what I used. It chipped a little bit of the plastic off of the hub, but it isn’t noticeable after I cleaned and painted the wheel. Be sure to leave the nut on, but loose. Best to thread it off until it is flush with the end of the steering shaft/tube. You’ll also want to have something solid on top of the tube to press against so as not to damage the top of the steering shaft/tube.
