I have seen both 9" and 10" hubcaps available that say they are for the 47 WC 1/2 ton.  From what I gather, the size difference is only the outside diameter.  Both sizes fit the clip configuration and are interchangeable.  Does anyone know what would have come on the truck in 1947?  9" or 10"?

Everything I've seen for trucks is 9". However both sizes fit on 15s and 16s. From what I can tell the 10s came from cars and shared the same basic design. Luckily for us the cheaper cars also used the 9s so they are easier to find.

I show part # 862968 for both WC and WD but it doesn't mention cap size

Thanks.  I was making a bad assumption thinking larger hub caps would be on the trucks.   DCM has 9" listed for the trucks is why I asked.  9" it is then.

What I learned with my B1C & B1B 3/4 - 1/2 ton .... The 3/4 ton trucks used a 15" wheel, while the 1/2 ton trucks had a 16" wheel. .... A 1952 Suburban also used 16" wheels. Just saying the cars used 16" wheels.

The size of the wheel changed the size of the hub cap.

The 3/4 ton trucks went with the 15" wheel but they were wider also. ...... seems backwards but just the way it was.

I don't believe that's true. The W series had 16s on the 1/2 and 15s on the 3/4 ton also but those trucks all use the same cap

I always thought that was odd too. Then one day I came across some information regarding the tires available and the 15" tires had a higher load rating than the 16's. I don't remember where I saw it though.
