I will be installing my engine this summer and have to put some finishing touches on it first.  I'll be using power steering so will need a second sheave to run it, or a complete custom serpentine accessory drive.  In the interest of time and cost, I'm thinking second pulley and v belts.

Anyone know a source of a pulley that can be added or will replace my current one?  It is a stock 56 230 with a dampener that bolts onto the hub.  I'd like to retain the hub as it has a new Speedi-Sleeve on it.

I'll check with them again, but some time back they didn't seem to have any but the 1 groove version.  Thanks

So do you really need the power steering. When driving down the road the steering should be fine at 50 MPH. So really you only need the Power steering is when parking.

So now you have to put on a second pully and a power steering unit on the 6 cylinder engine which will then drain down the HP of the truck which basically has a sweet spot of 50.

Think about all the cost for what expense and for what real reason.  Just my 25cents of input.

I want power steering.  For the parking reason you mentioned, especially when backing a trailer it is a great addition since big adjustments are needed, quickly.  Bigger radials also impact the parking thing.

HP use is minimal, and mine will be a little better than stock due to higher compression, dual exhaust and 2bbl carb.   When not actually using the hydraulic boost, there is very little (less than a HP) load as the fluid is under no pressure, just recirculating reservoir to pump to reservoir.

The real driver in the decision was the fact that my original steering gear is very loose and the worm shows too much wear for an adjustment to cure the slack.

So, the little Toyota gear is a good fit in the space and the pump, gear etc is much cheaper than a new set of gears.

Last, I expect my trucks sweet spot to be over 50, if that matters.  Original rear end with an A833 4sp overdrive.
