LouE Posted April 11, 2022 Report Posted April 11, 2022 Can anyone tell me what year/model this truck was? Quote
Dodgeboy49 Posted April 11, 2022 Report Posted April 11, 2022 Looks like a '54, since it has the early cab and beveled bed rails. Hood medallion indicates a flathead-6. Hard to tell if those are 15" rims, but if they are it would probably be a 3/4 ton. They also offered a heavy-half around that time which had the bigger box (which this appears to have) but also had 16" rims. Looks like it has a good load on; is there a story behind this truck? kencombs Posted April 11, 2022 Report Posted April 11, 2022 Agree w/54. I wonder if the front bumper guards are factory? I don't think I've ever seen those before and would like some on my 56. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted April 11, 2022 Report Posted April 11, 2022 Those certainly look like OE guards. Quote
wallytoo Posted April 11, 2022 Report Posted April 11, 2022 agree with rob, those bumper overriders look original, like the smaller outer ones on my ‘48. Quote
JBNeal Posted April 12, 2022 Report Posted April 12, 2022 1954 or early '55 half-ton long bed with factory bumper guards C-1-B6-116 spare tire MIA Quote
LouE Posted April 14, 2022 Author Report Posted April 14, 2022 Yes, the truck belonged to a bachelor uncle who farmed two parcels about 5 miles apart. The bumper guards I'm pretty sure were OE. The brackets outside each bumper guard were used to hitch the truck to his Oliver Row Crop 66 tractor when moving from one farm to the other. Usually he pulled a flat bed wagon behind the truck. I recall bags of seed in the pickup bed and bags of fertilizer in the wagon. It was a common sight seeing his caravan - tractor, pickup, wagon - go through town when going from one farm to the other. He eventually traded it in on a 1976 Dodge Pickup. I would like to find a similar pickup for a tribute to him. The spare tire normally rode in the bed where it was more accessible if needed than under the truck. Quote
LouE Posted April 14, 2022 Author Report Posted April 14, 2022 I did have a flathead 6 engine. Wasn't 1953 the last year for the pilothouse pickups? Quote
wallytoo Posted April 14, 2022 Report Posted April 14, 2022 ‘53 was the last year for the b-series. dodge still used the term “pilothouse” in advertising literature for the c-series. Quote
JBNeal Posted April 15, 2022 Report Posted April 15, 2022 additional information - Pilot-House definitions Quote
