Falcon(63) Posted October 26, 2007 Report Posted October 26, 2007 I bought a rolling chassis that was supposedly a 50 PH. The pumpkin is not in the middle of the axle, it is on the passenger side. Any ideas?????? Quote
Young Ed Posted October 26, 2007 Report Posted October 26, 2007 Reg weren't they IRS too? I think they had that to keep the floor inside lower and flatter Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 26, 2007 Report Posted October 26, 2007 Oh Jesus Ed !!! Please don't use the IRS word around a self employed guy like myself. OH oh oh ...wait....if you mean independant rear suspension. Yes, I think so. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 26, 2007 Report Posted October 26, 2007 That is what I meant-I was just being lazy and didn't type it out! Quote
Falcon(63) Posted October 26, 2007 Author Report Posted October 26, 2007 A route van is possible because it didn't have running board supports. Quote
anthonyb Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 My book shows the route van to be an independent suspension mounted in the center. Power Wagon maybe??? Those show to be offset to the passenger side. Quote
Falcon(63) Posted October 27, 2007 Author Report Posted October 27, 2007 Thanks for the info. I thought I had a morphodite Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Power wagons had the Diff off to the Rt. side I think, one long axle one short, but are a full floater as are the "DU" 1 ton route vans-solid rear axle housing, full floater axle/drum setup. 6 lug nuts. The "EU" route vans,1-1/2 tonners are IRS-swing axle W/5 stud drums, 1-1/2" lug nuts. Could the rear axle be a full floater 1 ton rear end out of a PW? 1 tons and DU route vans have 1" lug nuts- not bolts. Bob Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Can you find a vin number on the driverside of the frame near the front axle? Maybe we could id it from those numbers. Quote
Falcon(63) Posted October 30, 2007 Author Report Posted October 30, 2007 Bob, you were right on! I finally got enough crud off the frame to faintly see the numbers. It turns out to be a 50 PW. Thanks guys. Henry Quote
