Hello,

What is the best way to remove a stubborn brake shoe anchor bolt front the driver side backing plate? I have sprayed fluid on to loosen it up. That did not work. And there is rust for sure on the bolt. I was able to easily remove the opposite one by hitting the bolt from behind with a hammer.

I tried with the wrench/hammer combination on the head of the bolt that faces me. I was unsuccessful with that approach also.20210731_171018.jpg.b5dd3341cb25d2d1bbcf1d8b3c577ac9.jpg

I have attached two pictures

Let me know please with any ideas you have.

My apologies for being senile. I posted on a similar question during April. I totally forgot about that. I am referring to the April responses. The oldness realization has hit me.

Try a 50/50 solution of acetone and tranny fluid applied several times over days.  Use a wire brush on any exposed threads of the bolt.  Just my 2 cents.

Now that the brake backer plate is totally loos you should beable to remove the plate fromthe spindle.  You might have to take it to a machne shop and have them press out the eccentric anchor pin with an arbor press but make sure that the area around the pin os support so that you do not bend or distort thissection of the backer plate.

Just a suggetion

I usually resort to either an acetylene torch or an air hammer to solve such problems. Lots of heat will surely break the rust bond.   If you don't have access to either, a bigger hammer may be the best solution.  But swinging a hammer with 'authority' in that position isn't easy.  And, you really need to protect the threads before trying that.
