NoGoFargo Posted June 9, 2021 Report Posted June 9, 2021 I’ve searched for days and haven’t been able to find any info on a number I found stamped under the water pump gasket in the block just below the head and upside down. Pics below The reason I ask is the engine number on my Canadian 25” seems like it was stamped in the dark by a drunk person The engine number says it’s a 54 but the intake number and head numbers don’t match that. Maybe someone slapped together whatever parts they had on hand? Id like to know the actual year etc to aid in finding parts, maintenance etc Quote

NoGoFargo Posted June 30, 2021 Author Report Posted June 30, 2021 I guess I’m the only one with a block stamped behind the water pump ? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted June 30, 2021 Report Posted June 30, 2021 The number behind the WP probably means nothing now days....maybe to the manufacturer. Did you look for #'s behind the starter and rear or around the distributor? Quote
JBNeal Posted June 30, 2021 Report Posted June 30, 2021 Judging from the multicolored block and welch plug logo, I'm a-guessin that engine has been remanufactured...the stamped number might be from the rebuilder. additional information - flathead identification Quote
Sniper Posted June 30, 2021 Report Posted June 30, 2021 Well, as far as I know the stamped number starting with D49 is the Chrysler engine number you want. Here's a thread about a D49 engine and what it came in. Quote
