Have an old 5 horse tecumseh engine. Starts and runs, bogs and stalls under load after running for 5 to 10 minutes. Did compression test today cold. Got 60 dry, just under 70 with a squirt of ATF  Evaluating for keep it or chuck it. It is on a 1990 or so snowblower.

Two or three years back I had to grind down the exhaust valve stem as the seat had eroded and valve wasn't sealing, so I trimmed the stem till there was some lash around  08 or 10 ths  Only put maybe 8 hours since that was done.

Would need to check for spark and compression immediately after it quits. Water in fuel tank is something else to check for.
condensors and coils go bad when they heat up too
