48Dodger Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Hey Everyone, Anybody who would like to come out to my house and BBQ with the "West Coast Gang" is invited. I have plenty of room. I have no details and would really like to hear from those who would like to come, so I can make it a fun event. I was thinking along the lines of a club party as opposed to a "truck show", but you guys tell me.......I'm looking for a date in the Spring and what you would like to see at the BBQ (ie band, music, demostrations like welding and paint, magic..etc.) Looking forward to doing this, hope you can make it! 48D Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Hey 48D.....Hows about some dirt track Pilot House circle racing ? Quote
TodFitch Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Looks like Clements is on the road from Stockton, Calif. to Plymouth, Calif. It also looks like it is within a day's tour distance from the SF Bay area. . . Would you mind having some Golden State Region, Plymouth Club members showing up? Quote
Bob_Koch Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Glad you're getting this discussion going. I was thinking April should be a great time. March sounds good too, but is that too soon weather wise - want to make sure we have a nice day. Tod, I think all are invited, regardless of whether you're a truck or car owner, but I'll let Tim set the parameters on this. Reg - I like your idea. For people who haven't been to Tim's place, it's on farm land with lots of space and he has a huge garage loaded with great mopar cars. It's a terrific location for this. Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 If I lived in the area I would come and watch you race. Your Charger looks good. I like this Sptifire powered car too from the 1964 racing year. Follow the link. http://www.stockton99speedway.com/Hist/hist64.html Quote
48Dodger Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 Thanks Don for the kind words. I'll look for you in the pits next season, I can always use another "wrench". Reg, I'll race you in anything, any day! lol. How about Lawn Mower races for fun? By all means Tod, come on over. If you can't make it, send your car. I guess I should post this on the P15-D24 side too. Unless they're a bunch of reckless party animals. Nahhh, they should be alright. SF is about 2 hours away. Plymouth is about 45 minutes away. We have a 600 hundred arces ranch. We rent it out to family for beef cattle. Family ties to this ranch go back to 1900. I'll post some pictures of my place to help figure this thing out. The pastures are still green in April, but start to turn begining in May. May is still good, but not as nice as March, April. April is usally loaded with events around here, like the Plymouth Truck Show, but if we plan it right, it'll be fine. For those who are curious, I'm 43, work in Radiology, race stock cars, restore late sixties muscle cars, and newly involved in the preservation of Pilothouse Trucks. 48D Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 "Reg, I'll race you in anything, any day! lol. How about Lawn Mower races for fun?" You're on !!!! But could we change the race to a lawn mower distruction derby ? Here's my mower. Quote
Jim Shepard Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 I vote for the last Sunday in April. The truck show in Plymouth is the last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; however, Sunday is always wrap things up and leave day, so I always go on Saturday. So, the last Sunday in April is the 27th. Maybe folks coming in for the BBQ could also make the truck show (and vice versa...). By the way, Reg, when did you get your new mower? Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 That date sounds good to me too. Jim, I bought the mower last Dec. and finally had it hauled here a couple of weeks ago. It's actually not a mower, it's a tower. Quote
Jim Shepard Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 The thing I can say is you have a great wife! Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 The thing I can say is you have a great wife! You got that right Jim ! Here she is sandblasting a truck for me. She's also a very good cook as evidenced by this photo. Quote
48Dodger Posted October 13, 2007 Author Report Posted October 13, 2007 April 27th sounds good. I've recieved a few private emails saying they like the date too. I'll search the clander of events in our area and see if it conflicts with anything major. If anybody wants to help, send me an email and I'll try to set up a chat room date or pizza party meeting....or both. 48D Quote
Jim Shepard Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 I guess I'm gonna have to help since I'm so close... Quote
Bob_Koch Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 You know you can count on me for anything I can do. I'll be in Lodi this Saturday (13th) and I'm there about once a month to help my in-laws. Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 I guess I should post this on the P15-D24 side too. Unless they're a bunch of reckless party animals. Nahhh, they should be alright. Reckless party animals??? Not us:D Quote
TodFitch Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 I have taken the liberty of posting a tour to your BBQ on the Golden State Region's web site: http://goldenstate.ply33.com/events#283 This sounds like a fun event and I hope I can get at least a few old Plymouths from the Bay Area to show up. Guest Jobrated_man Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 Perhaps our group of Dodge trucks could caravan over to Clements from Calaveras county? We have the Dodge Brothers Society of Murphys ready, Have Trucks, Will Travel. Sounds like a good outing. Quote
48Dodger Posted October 14, 2007 Author Report Posted October 14, 2007 Dodge Brothers Society of Murphys, please......come on over! I had dinner at my brothers house tonight, and he had a few ideas concerning parking and such if everyone shows up. Even Don Coatney. So, I feel more confident about the parking issue. Hey Tod, the ad looks great! 48D Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Hey 48 Dodger, Why not charge an entry fee to off set the cost, and send any profits in to GT for setting up the forum. I would like to see some people from down south show up too. Tony C Quote
48Dodger Posted October 15, 2007 Author Report Posted October 15, 2007 I understand that money will be an important topic. My only goal would be to break even. If we make a profit due to entry/donations I imagine the club officers would take over at that point. I'm donating my time, and my place for the shear joy of being surrounded by awesome mopars,... and beating Reg in a smackdown lawnmower race. Fund raising is a little beyond me at this point, because I have never done it. But, we have the date. I believe we can plan a meeting next, and try to cover the bases. Either send me a private message, or post on this thread if you would like to be involved in the development of the event. This should be fun, and I plan on making/keeping it that way. : ) 48D Quote
48Dodger Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 Just incase you forgot Reg, this what it looked like last time you tried to race me in your "tower".........lol. 48D Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 OK....OK....you won that one. This time I propose we use push mowers. I'll bet you won't want to pass up my entrant this time. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 OK guys, I'm ready! And we'll remember to say a little prayer for the loser: Quote
