greg g Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Your stuff is in the mail. Don't worry about the postage, sent a couple bucks to the webmaster for forum support. Let me know when/if it gets there. Quote
Guest olbrowndodge Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 will do. It's guys like you that keep this crazy hobby going! I tried attaching a pix of my truck, but guess I'm too stupid to figure it out. Thanks for your help! Steve/olbrowndodge Quote
Guest olbrowndodge Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 The temperature sender arrived today. Will make a contribution to this great site! In the next day or so, I'm gonna put in the "new" sender and start the trouble shooting trail to the gauge. I'll try again sending a few pix. Couldn't figger it out last time, but seems to be working OK now. Thanks again, Steve/olbrowndodge Quote
greg g Posted October 14, 2007 Author Report Posted October 14, 2007 Your Welcome, Hope it works for you like I mentioned it did come out of an engine that was in a driving car. Got there pretty fast. Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Nice Dodge truck Steve ! Is it a 1958 ? Quote
Guest olbrowndodge Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Hey thanks for the interest. I realize this great site is not for "newer" Dodge trucks like mine. . . more for the truly classic designs, but I appreciate all the help y'all have provided. I love the older designs also! Had this truck for about 37 years . . . bought it as a work truck for $50.00. Starting about 12 years ago, started restoring it. Do the work myself, including paint and body, so it takes forever. It will never pass the eye of fine judge or MOPAR expert. Finding body parts for these buggers has not been easy. On every vacation we've been on . . . including Canada, I never pass a wrecking yard that looks like it has potential. My wife use to cringe when she saw them . . . now she helps point them out! A sun visor from AZ, another from New Mexico, a bumper from SF bay area . . . etc., etc. So, when you asked "Is it a 58?" . . . yes . . . mostly! But the welled fender is from a 56, the spare tire holder from a +/- '63, the front grille piece is from a 59 . . . and so on. I had the original bed and welled fender, but it was destroyed in a horrific rear-end collision by a 3 Ton loaded dump truck who was going 50mph. Me? I was at a dead stop. He used me for a brake. I was really, really lucky to find another bed . . . but no welled fender. That came from Turner's Auto Wrecking in Fresno . . . supposedly the largest old car wrecking yard in the U.S. 100+ acres with over 10,000 pre 1970 cars. Place is a national treasure . . . but he knows what he wants for stuff!!! But hey, not a lot of used welled fenders (an option at the time, as I understand it) for 58 Dodge trucks out there! Yes Sir . . . Sure, I'll pay it, whatever it is! So, here's a few pix of the work in progress, instead of the "all done" shots. Thanks, Steve/olbrowndodge Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Beautiful job Steve! Does yours have a 315 Poly under that hood? Here's a photo of my 58 I've owned for maybe 3 years now. One of these days I'm hoping to have mine be as purdy as yours. Hey...so far we're gettin away with being a decade off topic. Quote
Guest olbrowndodge Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 wow. Definitely the "classic" of that time period. Looks to be in pretty decent shape. No, I have the good ol' flathead 6. Several times I've had the opportunity to put a V8 in it, but just never did. Now I have like 3 extra engines, so I guess it ain't gonna happen! Get going on the Sweptside! Wow, I look at that bed and all that sheet metal, and my arm hurts just thinking of all that sanding and blocking! Steve Quote
Young Ed Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Everytime I see one of these it makes me think I should liberate this one from the junkyard Quote
Guest olbrowndodge Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 Wow-- That is only the second (OK third, if I count the one that got crushed on my truck!) welled fender I've seen for this era of truck. 'Course I don't need it now, but would have killed for that a few years back. That's a pretty complete looking truck. Is it yours, or in a wrecking yard? Wherever, it needs saving! Sort of funny, I also have some English cars (MG, Austin-Healey), and I get more interest in my truck than I do the others! Steve Quote
Young Ed Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 That is/was in a wrecking yard in WI. I haven't been there in 2 summers but I bet it is still there. They are kinda high priced on whole vehicles and would probably want 1000-1500 for that truck. Quote
