I was wondering if the windwing glass frame on the P15 was originally black or chrome/stainless steel? The one on my car seems to have been painted black, but not sure that this is correct or not. The reason I say that is because the windwing shown in the owner's manuel seems to be shiny like it was chrome or stainless steel. Anyone know how they really were when they were new? Did only certain models get the chrome and some got black?

This came up before and from what was all said I think Brendan is correct. I have both models of the D24, Custom and Deluxe, custom being the higher end and both are chrome but it's possible someone payed extra at the dealer to have it that way I dont know for sure. It's too bad these and the larger rear vent windows were'nt made from stainless like many of the other parts. These seem to rust up faster than the other chrome parts for some reason. Maybe because they got touched more often. Consider yourself lucky if it isnt chrome because whatever the damage, it can be prepped and painted instead of sending it off to a chrome shop.

Seems like the wings I recall were painted black.

There may have been a few enterprising fellows in years gone by who had them chromed by a local plater. Some few have even had the entire window frame chromed, as well as the piece around the inside of the windshield.
