Hi guys I'm hoping that someone can help out a bit in figuring out what rear end this is. I dont know much about it or the truck other than it runs and is fun to drive lol.

the only thing i can find on the housing is a R6885 on driver side and a DC18B

That's a typical Dodge manufactured standard single speed rear axle housing and differential. 

Ratio could be eithet a 5.6,  6.2 or 6.8 

That number is stamped on the driver's side (left) on the differential case.

 Look for it on the bolt mounting flange ...1/2 way up.

not with that "stepped" cover it isn't.  the eaton 1350 has a "smooth dish".

 by not knowing that rear feature you point out by asking for the picture of the front as it would then be known if or in not a two speed........which was an effective question as the picture was quickly posted...,,to help in the future maybe you could post a pic of the Eaton 1350 two speed...

Now for the other part. Is that a rear end that I can just change the rear brake housing and hub and of course the brake to update to an 8 or 10 lug?

Not much you can do with it...

But new brake reline and play country farmer with it.

Not much interchanges as for ring and pinions....no nos parts easily available

Enjoy what you have or tear it all out and start from scratch to build what you want.

eaton 1350 2-speed.  note that the air line and diaphragm are visible from the rear, another thing clearly not in the OP's image.  don't confuse the midland brake booster with the vacuum shift diaphragm.  booster is "centered", the diaphragm is partly visible at the upper left of the differential.

thanks for the pictures...was not sure how well one could see the vacuum control for the two speed, I admit I have only seen one in the last 15 years and that was just a glance and not looking close, I am sure this will help others (if they take the time to search the forum correctly)

can't help you with what might interchange.

 

your truck is equipped with the auxilliary side sills to beef up the frame.

I seen that it was pretty beefy and what not Nice pto setup Just needs some updating lol I plan to make it my hauling truck and using the body make 48 pick up truck

Just havent ever messed with something this old
