Plymouthy Adams Posted September 25, 2019 Report Posted September 25, 2019 For my ongoing current project I needed some capture nuts.....while these can be ordered...they could not get them here yesterday...so last night a bit and after errands this morning..I got back on my task of making what I need. I have 31 assembled...(55 top hats made) and am thinking 27 is all I need for the entire project in all places...now who will help me weld these on said the little Red Hen..... 3 Quote
Los_Control Posted September 25, 2019 Report Posted September 25, 2019 Los raises his hand and offers to weld. Like I told my neighbour when I fabricated a few parts for his 1954 shoe box. My welding sucks, rather practice on your car then mine 1 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 25, 2019 Author Report Posted September 25, 2019 (edited) you're a little late...appreciate the offer.....I have already welded 24 of these in place and changed the nuts in another four so to have all matching hardware when putting the transmission cover back onto the floor board....have not inspected yet but think there are another four on/about the firewall counting the holes in the floor/toeboard Edited September 25, 2019 by Plymouthy Adams Quote

I have a reproduction floor board for my pilothouse ... is so thin I cant use it as is, Think I will add support and then screw it in for future transmission access. Given a choice, I really want it to be removable. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 27, 2019 Author Report Posted September 27, 2019 (edited) little update….24 of these now welded in place, frame cleaned from weld process...primer touched up....now in catalyzed black topcoat.... Edited October 25, 2019 by Plymouthy Adams Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 28, 2019 Author Report Posted September 28, 2019 (edited) thanks...pushing to get this to a rolling chassis....coming along pretty good...I may have to temp pin the front suspension until my order arrives from England....the upper portion of the front suspension hangs on the body...the lower on the chassis...this was 20 days ago.....and there was a lot more work here than just painting.... Plymouthy Adams Posted September 29, 2019 Author Report Posted September 29, 2019 this is for my Morris Minor van. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 30, 2019 Author Report Posted September 30, 2019 made another 24 capture nuts this evening for my friend who has been helping me with special British hardware and who also is working the same frame at this time...it is only fair play that I do this....once the jig is built this is quick and easy process....
