1951fargo Posted May 25, 2019 Report Posted May 25, 2019 Forgive my lack of knowlege and understanding here. I am changing fluids on my 1951 fargo truck project as i wait for brake cylinders is there a way to tell if i have fluid drive? The truck came with dashpot carburetor I dont see an access port on top anywhere thanks in advance for any help you can offer Quote
Merle Coggins Posted May 26, 2019 Report Posted May 26, 2019 (edited) That’s not a FD bell housing. It appears to be a standard clutch model. The FD bell housing is longer and has the pedals mounted on a separate shaft with an extra linkage going back to the clutch shaft. The standard clutch has the brake pedal on the clutch shaft. Worden18 Posted June 5, 2019 Report Posted June 5, 2019 Also, Fluid Drive would have nothing to do with your carb or ignition system for that matter. A Gyromatic would on the other hand. Another way to tell if you have FD (which we know you don't as Merle pointed out), start the engine, push in the clutch, put it in gear and then apply the brakes while you release the clutch....the engine should stay running if the vehicle is tuned up good. ?
