dr47 Posted May 10, 2019 Report Posted May 10, 2019 has anyone put the mopar A 833 trans behind a flathead six .thank you Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 10, 2019 Report Posted May 10, 2019 it has been discussed, there is a thread on this conversion but at this time I think it is stalled. Do be careful of the A833 aluminum case, there is a major design flaw in the fact there is no replaceable bearing /bushing on one of the shafts, the case is often damaged by this, the case can be sent for repair but the cost is quite significant. Inspection to see this wear will require a tear down, not sure if removing the cover will allow one to proper gauge the play. Just an FYI if you buying a tranny without first hand knowledge of its working condition. Quote
kencombs Posted May 10, 2019 Report Posted May 10, 2019 I have the parts gathered to do it but haven't bolted things together yet. The only real issue will be welding up bosses on the clutch housing I've chosen(59-60 Dodge PU) to drill/tap for the attaching bolts. The 833 chosen is from a van, which provides a forward mounted factory Hurst shifter. Quote
