Dan Kennedy Posted January 21, 2019 Report Posted January 21, 2019 I have a 12 volt POSITIVE ground truck. I want to add a 12 volt to 120 volt inverter. I have an inverter ... instructions just say to hook positive cable to positive batt post and Negative cable to negative batt post and ground inverter frame to vehicle frame. Can anyone tell me if it is OK to install this inverter on my positive ground truck ?? Quote
kencombs Posted January 21, 2019 Report Posted January 21, 2019 If your truck is positive ground it will likely fry something, probably the inverter if connect like that That said, what is the truck? I've never encountered a + ground 12v. I have a 56 and it is 12v negative ground. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted January 24, 2019 Report Posted January 24, 2019 FWIW, the '55 Imperial was 12V positive ground. I once had an NORS voltage regulator for one. Quote
busycoupe Posted January 25, 2019 Report Posted January 25, 2019 Many English cars were 12V with positve "earth". Quote
