Los_Control Posted November 22, 2018 Report Posted November 22, 2018 Simple question that I feel I should know after owning 2, 49 pilothouse trucks. My first truck I never wanted to roll down the windows, no handles and glass was cracked, just leave them alone. This truck I have rolled the windows up and down, and think something is wrong. The metal strip on the leading edge of the glass, the rear glass of the wing windows seal against this strip. Both doors on my truck, the metal strip is attached to the glass and rolls up and down with the glass. Seems to me the strip should be stationary and just the glass moves up and down .... How big of a issue am I looking at? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 22, 2018 Report Posted November 22, 2018 there are stationary dividers and moving dividers..many of this era was moving dividers....sad part is NO ONE makes the correct style seal for the moving divider....I have a fix that works fine but it is an involved repair but will go right back on the vehicle and rivet as the original. The stationary divider is serviced by a couple of retailers. Normally one piece will repair two vents. It is a bit of a challenge to repair but don't believe any of the retailer that they have the right item....they do not..... 1 Quote

That is good info then, I am going to guess I have the moving dividers, while expecting stationary. Just thinking in back of my mind, my dividers mounts are rusted, now another rust repair and how difficult will it be to get to etc... If they are working as designed, I can relax and repair/restore as needed and then deal with seal when required. Thank you PA for clearing that up. They do roll up and down fine, work fine, I just expected they were suppose to be stationary. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted November 22, 2018 Report Posted November 22, 2018 Yes, the divider is attached to the glass and is the moving type, as mentioned above. 1 Quote
