pflaming Posted October 7, 2018 Report Posted October 7, 2018 There re a lot of comfortable cars, our 2008 Honda Accord is one of them. We drove to Oakland, CA airport and back today. Was tired at the end of seven hours on the road, but not beat up. It's a great car. Quote
TodFitch Posted October 7, 2018 Report Posted October 7, 2018 I think some of the tolerance for long distance driving is both individual and age related. Back in the 1980s I routinely drove my '82 Plymouth the 1000 miles between my house and my sister's non-stop and that was the era of the 55 MPH speed limit. I have a more comfortable car now but doing that drive non-stop does not seem as appealing to me. Quote
pflaming Posted October 7, 2018 Author Report Posted October 7, 2018 My brother and I in 1958 drove a 50 Plymouth non stop from Western Nebraska to central California and back. Either our bottoms were tougher or our minds weren't. 1 Quote
Brent B3B Posted October 7, 2018 Report Posted October 7, 2018 For me comfort is only part of it, but being able to stop and walk around (and IBUPROFEN) helps a lot. Four years now we drove from Lodi back home (about 650 plus miles) in 10 to 11hrs depending on if we were towing. Thankful for the plenty and clean rest areas Julie bought a Rav 4 recently and either I am to big or it is to small but my knee locks up after a few hours.... so we switch ? 1 Quote
Dodgeed Posted October 7, 2018 Report Posted October 7, 2018 Boy, having a comfortable vehicle while on an all day drive, lets say at least 500 miles, can make all the difference. Our Acura is great for that kind of trip, and so is our Jeep Grand Cherokee. Quote

But apparently not the sense to stay out: pflaming's location shows as Reedley, California. Quote

LOL I moved to California before meeting my bride so I have less of an excuse than you. Its a big state and depending on where you live there are different pluses and minuses. Where I am now the daytime temperatures seldom get out of the 70s F, I can walk to the beach and drive to the local mountains for skiing. Not many places in the world can provide that combination. 1 Quote
