I’m having the engine rebuilt in my 52 Coronet and the harmonic balancer is rough. Can it be bolted together or do I need to have it rebuilt? If so any ideas where? Also the temperature sending unit broke when it was removed from the head. Any idea where to find one?

What is rough - vibration damper or hub? Damper itself has inner and outer steel rims bonded together by a layer of vulcanized rubber. If rubber is rotting away and rims are separating, then either you have the damper rebuilt or find one in a better shape. AFAIK, Andy Bernbaum offers rebuilding service.

With temperature gauge, you will have to find a new one. I've read about people fixing them by filling sender bulb with ether and re-soldering the connection tube. This may fix the gauge, but reading may not be very accurate.

I know this doesn't help with the broken sender unit you have but will help in future.......get some "Never Seeze" or similar anti seeze product and coat the threads of the sender unit and the internal threads of the sender unit adaptor and ALWAYS use a brake nut spanner to undo these sender units......these are a special type of ring spanner that is a little wider yet has a slot so that it fits around a nut and will not slip off like an open mouth spanner............andyd

I used damper doctor for a 67 Ford damper with great reaults. Definitely recommend him.  He’s grown a bit and has some additional help there, but that may just make him faster.

Give him a call.

I haven’t been on this forum for years. It’s nice to see that there is still help out there. This was a big help in getting my D24 on the road years ago. Thanks again.

Does your significant other know you are using the driver seat of the daily "grocery getter" as a backdrop for a greasy harmonic balancer? I prefers to  use kitchen counter or dining room table for such shenanigans !! Oh and by the way , her dishwasher doesn't work well as a parts washer like my buddies said it would!
