I have five water pumps, probably core value at best. I know cores are required or you pay more for a new rebuilt one, so is it difficult to rebuild one? I certainly could use two spares.

I just viewed a video on how to rebuild a water pump. Kits cost about $60 so I will rebuild a couple for ny use. I have a press available so it's just a time item. Good to know.

The biggest thing in rebuilding any water pump is having a good casting to start with. The company I worked for would rebuild pumps for customers and tell them .........they would try but if the casting cracks, we can't be responsible. So much depends on making sure you have the correct plugs to push out the core and bearings. Then making sure you press everything back to stock dimensions.

I guess what I'm saying is you must be so careful when taking an old pump apart, especially one that is 30.40, or 50 yrs. old...........good luck

The last rebuilt one I bought the core charge was $3 so they obviously didn't care to get them back.
