Just purchased a new gas pedal for my 52 Dodge Truck and it will not stay attached at the bottom two pins.  I am considering a drilled hole and a bolt to hold it in place. Anyone else had this problem?

WD 40 really helps and if you lock the shaft that goes through the floor with a vice grip it makes it a whole lot easier to install the pedal.

Nice thing about WD 40 is that it will not hurt the rubber and dries up fairly quickly.

My issue with grease is it stays wet and might pop off again once in use...I used a bit of dish soap on mine...same thing...was a tight fit, but has never moved since.

Grease may break down the rubber too. I also like liquid soap as a lubricant for things like that. Usually use Go-Jo, or similar, as that's what's handy in my garage. Just not the pumice kind.
