P15newbie Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 Well the time is now, this 47 Plymouth business coupe SD has stalled for a year, but only for good reason. the original plan was a mild build with a 318 Magnum. But i was able to get my hands on an entire 08 Charger R/T, that's getting turned into a drag runner. Yup that means the 5.7 Hemi, trans, interior, steering column, gauges, seats, and entire electrical system is being installed in the the Plymouth. AND ONLY ABOUT A MONTH TO FINISH!!! Engine: 5.7 Hemi Trans: 5 speed Tiptronic Steering: 89 Chevy caviler Rear end: 01 ford explorer (DSK Brake typ) http://s1268.photobucket.com/user/vethd32/media/IMG_20170326_192443944_zps2oqtkxxj.jpg.html?filters[user]=144930205&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=1 http://s1268.photobucket.com/user/vethd32/media/IMG_20170325_112957080_zps742lbbze.jpg.html?filters[user]=144930205&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=3 http://s1268.photobucket.com/user/vethd32/media/IMG_20160709_241347219 1_zpsunomkp06.jpg.html?filters[user]=144930205&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=4 Ill try to keep this feed updated as best i can! 1 Quote

The fastest I have ever seen in person was a local guy that did a 48 Chebby for a customer at night and on weekends. He even pulled the body off the chassis to do the chassis and body work, installed a Camaro limited slip rear,327 chevy engine, and 4 speed trans. I THINK he updated the front suspension too,but can't remember at this point. I do remember stopping by his house on several occasions and seeing it as a work in progress, and how it advanced. I remember seeing the body hanging from two engine hoists, for example. I also remember helping him installing the engine and trans. He had it all back together and running down the road in primer in 3 months. No kidding. All this in a 1 and 1 half car garage at home, and he didn't farm out any of it. 1 Quote
classiccarjack Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 When I owned my automotive restoration business, we tackled some deadlines using up to three people to get it done. However, I built show cars and everything had to be pretty. Perhaps a mission like this is possible if looks aren't important. The biggest "Time Bandit" other than fabrication, will be dealing with the electrical side of it. If he keeps the fuel injection intact, there is going to be some time spent doing it right. Quote

No need to worry about the electrical seeing how I pulled the entire wiring harness from the 08 charger including gauges, body harness, all the way from headlights to taillights!!! I should have clarified when I said 1 month, I have 1 month to get it running and driving for a parade then plan to go into a full tear down!! Quote
P15newbie Posted March 29, 2017 Author Report Posted March 29, 2017 After a long night, got all the wiring in place, pics to come tomorrow!! 1 Quote

P15newbie Posted April 12, 2017 Author Report Posted April 12, 2017 Interior is about done, for the cruise at least, motor is going in tomorrow. For anyone looking for easy wheel studs, I went with "Carry on" 522t trailer studs drilled threaded holes out to 1/2" and hammered them in. Quote
