Presride Posted January 2, 2017 Report Posted January 2, 2017 I have a 1960 D100 with a flathead 6. The return line for the heater runs from the heater to the head behind the back most cylinder on the passenger side of the head. Is this the original plumbing or is there another way to plumb the heater return line without running it into the head? Quote
MBF Posted January 2, 2017 Report Posted January 2, 2017 On all of my flatties (218, 230, and 251) the heater is plumbed that way. I'm not aware of another way to route the flow. Mike Quote
Young Ed Posted January 2, 2017 Report Posted January 2, 2017 Thats where I've always seen it too. I've seen a few variations of the forward connection either off the thermostat bypass(on top of the water pump), under the water pump, or tied into the metal pipe between the halves of the lower radiator hose. Merle Coggins Posted January 2, 2017 Report Posted January 2, 2017 That one at the head is actually the supply for the heater. The return goes to the water pump or thermostat housing. 1 Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted January 3, 2017 Report Posted January 3, 2017 On the heads that I have seen , the head is marked HEATER right at that spot . Quote
