Please can anyone help with a diagram or photos showing the location of the water distribution tube on the flathead 218 cu i 6 cylinder engine in my car? My workshop manual refers to the part but does not show it. And can anyone please recommend a supplier or maker of a replacement? Thanks guys

to remove the WDT  water distribution tube you need to remove the water pump. Then when looking at the front of the engine block  you will see the hole in the shape of a half moon affect. This where the WDT is located and inserted into the engine block.  To remove the WDT you might also have to remove the radiator to have enough clearance to pullthe tube out of the block.  You will also need a long rod with a hook at the end to help put the wdt out of the block If you are real nice a lucky it just might come out as one unit.  refer to the the technical section and there is some discussion on how and tools to use to get the WDT out of the block.  Good Luck

the factory service manual covers this well in pictorial....check the cooling section of the book not the engine section....page 69 of the 46-54 Service Manual...

I believe Robert's, Bernbaum and vpw all are good sources for the part...even typing in "mopar water distrubtion tube" on e-bay will garner a number of available auctions...well let me change this...I know e-bay will return these auctions as it was a 5 second search

Just make sure that you get the tube for the Plymouth/Dodge engine which is the 23" engine..........the Desoto /Chrysler engine also uses a water distribution tube that is EXACTLY the same in appearance but longer to suit the larger, 25" engine............they can be a pain to remove....good luck..........andyd
