My 48 p has a complete volare drive train, wiring harness and gauge cluster with the one wire system, It also has the original p15 fuel tank with what's left of the two wire sender (shot) my question is do they make a 12 volt negative ground one wire sender that reads 10-76 ohms (the ohms of the volare) that will fit in my p15 tank, thanks

My first idea was a volare sender but the volare tank is narrower and a bit deeper, plus it has the tube/filter for the fuel line built on like most newer mopars, they say the ohms are the same on all mopars from 60's through the 90's (10-76) but haven't found one same length, plus they all have the lock ring setup not the 5 screws like the p15

often it is simpler to combine the components of the two for operation...mount and tube for the P15 and its tank...tack on the float and sender of the donor car....Bob's your uncle...it has been about a week since doing one like this myself..no need to make things complicated

Finally got a breather, dad got out of the hospital today, so I can stop running around like and idiot and get back on track with the car, I was able to pull out the "original" sender, there's pretty much nothing left, so fabbing one from 2 isn't possible (especially because I don't have the volare or its sender) i found one from a 50's caddy that supposedly is the right ohms and a one wire

Tanks inc sell a 1 wire sender that I used, with full instructions how to cut it down to suit your tank with the correct 10-76 ohms.

Hey does anyone know if there's any p15 guys in the nj area, I've got some stuff that I want to give away, but I don't want to ship, its not in great shape but I can't see throwing it away, I've got a radio (I'm keeping one) a set of horns with relay, a bunch of bumperettes some clean, some need blasted and rechromed a steering wheel and the under dash controller free

Oh, I know Lake Hotpatcong, lived in Randolph and Hackettstown for a while, worked in Ledgewood.  I'm just across the border on the Portland Bridge on 611.  I'm covered up this week and the coming weekend, but if you're not in a hurry maybe we could get together the following week sometime?

Once you find a sender, you should also wire in a 7806 voltage regulator.  Doing so will provide a rock solid 6 volt supply current to the gauge.  Even if you keep the 6volt system, this will make for steadier gauge readings as there won't be voltage fluctuations in that circuit.

I'm not too familiar with the two wire fuel gauge circuit but, this works well for one wire systems that have 6 volt gauges. A 5 volt gauge would need a 7805 reg. Some after market gauges are 12 volt and have regulators built into them.
