Guest Zach Roberts Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 How's Friday the 13th treating you? Mine started with a trip to Piggott, AR to check out a '53 Cranbrook. I was hoping for wire rims and a Borg-Warner overdrive. Instead I found a locked-up engine and a Hy-drive transmission. Nuts. The body's actually straight and solid, but I could care less. If anyone else is interested, the owner works at NAPA in Piggott. Find the number of the store online, or PM me for his home number. It's a more-door. $300. Anyone else having bad luck today? Quote

Piggott, AR. I was there two months ago for the supercruise. Neat town and very cool cruise. I should have taken my camera there were a few p-15's there. Too bad you drove there for nothing. That is the way all these projects start out I guess. Several years ago I went to look at a '53 chevy truck project. Lady who answered the phone told me "It runs real good". When I got there pieces of this truck was laying all over the yard and the motor was in the bed. So much for running good. Good luck on your continued search. No bad luck here yet, knock on wood. Guest Zach Roberts Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Steve, Piggott's not that far away from my house. It's just far away from everything else! I should have known it was for naught, the car was too cheap and too close to have any parts I could use. Having said that, I'd searched for months (ads in the state paper, free classifieds, etc.) for my project car before I found my '41 coupe... 1/4 mile down the highway from home. Hey, the day's looking up already. I just had a great phone conversation with a guy who has a '50 Special Deluxe club coupe. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Well it took till late evening but the 13th runs true here. First I lost a tree to a lightening strike some time back..finially was able to get the backhoe here from the farm down the road and snatch that sucker out of the ground..and loaded onto my car trailer. As I need to use my car trailer next week I had to unload the trunk/root. Got to the landfill and guess what...now even the residents are to pay for anything over 500 pounds, get serious here folks that is just barely covering the bottom of a pick up truck..anyway...went further to say I could make as many trips as I want a day just not to exceed 500 pounds at which time I countered with why our local government is forcing the taxpayer to spend more time and money on the road when we already have an energy crisis? Anyway..no charge today and I will be talking to the commissioner..Government in Action..as Don Coatney sent to me last week.."THEY WALK AMOUNG US"......I know they are trying to crack down on Mom an Pop lawn care business disposing of waste and trash cleaning up from evictions etc...I get there maybe once every two months and 500 is not worth a trip to the dump..looks like illegal dumping will increase, widlfires from burns and illegal burns, smoke pollution etc etc. Quote
55 Fargo Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Went to back the 47 out of the garage, the clutch pedal stuck in the pushed in position. Had to take floor apart, fopund bracket for part of the clutch linkage was loose and finally let everything out of alignment. Repaired it, but the linkage needs a good going over, it is not the best. The car was originallly fluid drive, now it's standard, so the push rod is shorter to accomodate not having a fluid drive, the linkage is fairly worn. Would be nice to get a set of linkae from a 46 to 48 P15, to replace this stuff, oh and the starter drive is not connecting well, it is doing a lot of free spinning, checked all the connections, they were tight, any idea what's up with this, need a new solonoid switch or starter rebuildChecked for antiffreeze leaking, it is still leaking into the bell housing, probably about and ounce or 2 in a week, p[lan on fixing this at the end of the month............Fred Quote

clay diggs Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Piggot Ar We were also at Supercruise. We just spent three days in Piggott over the 4th visiting family and friends and enjoying the parade and picnic. Also had some bad luck today. Pulled the radio out of the '47, repaired it, got it to playing. I laid it in the floor of the car and hooked up all the wiring and speaker, still playing good. Put it back in the car and it will not play at all. Checked and rechecked all wire and speaker connections, fuse, etc. Still not playing. Will work on it more tomorrow. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 I found a can of those tap worms on the internet and now I can start my diet! Quote

Like most people who were kids in the 50's with older hot rodder brothers,I wanted a channeled 32 Ford coupe. In my case,I wanted the "East Coast Style" hot rod. These were different than the California hi-boys. The East Coast style was channeled about 7 inches with a unchopped top and a extended wheelbase with a suicide front axle. The whole "altered gas coupe" drag car look. Never could afford one (found a rust-free channeled 32 roadster with a y-block in it for $75 in a junkyard when I was 14,but my father refused to buy it for me),so I really didn't look very hard. I'm sitting at home one day about 5 years ago when a friend calls and asks me if I want to buy a steel 32 Ford 5-window coupe that is a old early 1950's hot rod. I said,"Sure, doesn't everybody? I can't afford one, though." He then tells me about one only 25 miles from me that was for sale cheap enough I had no excuse or reason to not buy it. Was offered a running and driving T-Bucket hot rod and $5,000 in cash for it a week after I bought it. This is what it looked like the day I bought it,but without the rebuild SBC engine and trans that came with it. Despite the 70's paint job,it still had the copper brake lines from the 50's still on it when I bought it. Right now it is sitting quietly in my garage, waiting for me to finish my P-15 rebuild and getting my D-22 coupe on the road so that I have the time and money to finish it. Quote
