rb1949 Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 Any idea what this connector is for? It comes off the light switch. Have not seen another wire nearby that would have the other end to connect to it. This is on a 1949 Chrysler. It's on the terminal that illuminates the dash lights when turned on. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 could be either a clock or radio in line connector......I do not have a Chrysler specific schematic..but on the Plymouths, this is similar... Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 Looks like half of an in line fuse holder. Quote
mopar_earl Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 I agree with Don. Could of went to the clock or radio? Earl Quote
rb1949 Posted May 11, 2016 Author Report Posted May 11, 2016 Clock & Radio have separate wires. A fuse, to what? All lights were working, spotted this when the switch was pulled. Will dig again and try to fine the other end. Schematic does show a circuit breaker off the B terminal. Quote
rb1949 Posted May 11, 2016 Author Report Posted May 11, 2016 HOLD IT HOLD IT. Just went and looked at non-functioning radio, which was removed. There is the other end of this connector! So it must be to illuminate the radio dial when the lights are on. The schematic does not indicate an in-line fuse. Pretty hefty cable for a light bulb. Remove it, not needed. Quote
Andydodge Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 At least here in Oz the Mopar light switches that I've seen have a fused connector like that that is a power source, they have a piece of spring steel that connects into the other half of that fuse holder carrying power from a rivet into the switch.........my Oz 2 cents.......andyd Quote
DonaldSmith Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 Is this thing connected to the hot side of the switch or the controlled side? Where do all those yellow wires go? Quote
rb1949 Posted May 12, 2016 Author Report Posted May 12, 2016 Yellow are my new wire for the dash lights. As I found (post #6) this odd ball thing is for the radio light. All to same switch terminal to illuminate when on. Doubt I be putting that ungodly monsterous radio back in. Could leave extra lead coming off to light up something else at a future date, just make it more accessible than that stubby thing. Quote
50 coupe Posted May 13, 2016 Report Posted May 13, 2016 Looks similar to the old fuse holder on my Signal Stat 800 Turn signal switch. The power side to the flasher had an old metal in line fuse holder. Quote
