This is a nice looking truck, but the guy thinks it's made of gold.

It does look nice, and I like the clearance lights on the front fenders for signal lights. Seems like a nice compromise for adding signal lights without using the gaudy big round lights. But for an asking price of $12,750 I feel I can be nit-picky...

1. It's a '50 3/4 ton truck, not a 49 1/2 ton as he states.

2. Is that a front bumper on the rear? I have thought about doing that, but I'd trim down the ends so they're not out there to hook everything that passes by.

3. Not crazy about those west coast mirrors.

4. Hub caps are incorrect. (minor issue, but I'm being nit-picky)

5. Looks like a new brake hose, but it's not anchored properly. The steel line won't last long that way.

6. What's up with the calf $#!t brown dash? What was wrong with red?

7. After gutting the cab to paint everything, why didn't he paint the seat frame? It's still the original green.

8. Is that gas pedal bent?

9. Interesting gauges. An obvious change to 12V. What was wrong with the original gauges? The speedo looks OK.

10. Passenger door is missing the inside door latch handle. I guess that forces you to be a gentleman and let your lady out?

11. And there are no eschutcheons under any of the other interier door handles/cranks.

I would think with a couple hundred more $$$ and a little attention to detail maybe it would be worth his asking price. But as it is...

Just my opinions,

Merle

Hey Merle,

When we have our national truck meet (OK, someday it'll happen) will you be the authenticity judge? You're getting pretty good at this.

I think we need to get our trucks back on the road first, Bob. ;)

And when that does happen I know mine won't be perfect, but I won't be asking over $12 grand for it either. :P

Hummmm.....wrong hood ornament too. Very tacky door panels. Exhaust manifold has been brazed up and the running boards are suppose to be black. No head liner. Looks like maybe 4 or 5 K to me if that's a quality paint job.

Sorry guy.

Hey guys, what about the plates on the outside of the fenders where the brace bolts come thru - I assume these were added as an attemp to cure the rusting problem discussed in another thread? Did the trucks ever come from the factory that way?

It obviously was not a frame off restoration as evidenced by the undercarriage be the original "rust" color. I have to agree about the interior, too. The door panels look like they took about 20 minutes to make both of them. At the very least the upholsterer (whoever that was) could have made sure the material was pulled tight around the edges. And the corners would have looked better if they were rounded off a little. Not really crazy about the 8 ball shifter knob and the Dodge Ram's head painted on the cab roof and the dash. The bed wood looks wrong somehow, too. Is it new wood with a poor finish or the old bed wood just refinished? The paint needs to be buffed or color sanded, it looks kinda dull or flat in some of the pictures or ir could be the light that the pictures were taken in. All in all it's not a bad looking truck but I wouldn't "buy it now" for $12,750. It'll be interesting to see if someone pays that price. Just thought I'd throw my 2 1/2 cents in.

Interesting how the value exists in the painters mind.. my truck was on the auction block last July with a $12,000 reserve. The bidding reached 11,500 but the owner wouldn't budge. I bought in just before winter at a far less price. And my list of wrongs wasn't quite as long, but then, I keep finding them.

If that's worth $12, it means my amatuer restoration is worth $15K minimum. MIke

Smartest thing on that truck that was done is the chain on the Rad cap! I`d maybe give-- maybe-----$3250.00 just because of the rare front fender marker lights and the 200.00 labor for the door panel labor only work!
