looking  at 54 dodge royal sedan with 241 hemi - 2 speed auto trans, motor trans both in good condition, anyone know how well the car would preform  on the highway at speeds of 65 miles per hour or would that be to much for the old girl ,  Thanks

with 27 inch diameter tires, (apx 700X15) 3.55 rear equals 2900 to 3100 rpm at 70.   215/75/15 radials are 27.7 inch so roughly equivalent to stock if 700 15.

I had a cousin that drove one every day in the early 60's,and he had no trouble driving 60 MPH everywhere he went. There were no 65 MPH roads around here at that time.

I have 2 54 dodge Royals. They only came with the 241 Hemi and I dive mine on the freeway at 70-75 with no problems. I can't remember the RPM since they are in storage for the winter, but I think at 70 mph the rpm was about 3,700. They engines are all balanced when they were built, which is why you see no vibration dampener on the front of the crankshaft.

A 54 Dodge Coronet Diplomat 2 dr. hardtop with a hemi and gyromatic was my first car.  60 mph should be no problem. Neat car.
