wmw453 Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 my 52 fargo has a very seized flat head that I have removed and have a 75 slant six with an torqueflite 904 waiting to go into it. I am wondering if anyone on here has done a slant six swap into one of these trucks that has any advice for me. are there any newer cars that would have a k member that would go into my truck with relative ease? Plymouthy Adams Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 the early Volare with a /6 is your ideal donor..it is yet a very popular and relatively easy suspension and engine cradle swap/upgrade that is ideal for the truck chassis due to the straight frame rails Quote
Merle Coggins Posted October 15, 2015 Report Posted October 15, 2015 I've seen 1 Pilot-House truck with a /6 under the hood, but that guy sold it and I haven't seen it since. I was surprised how well it fit. I don't know what modifications were made to fit it in, as it is significantly longer than the flattie. Merle Quote

There is a 251 and truck trans in Manitoba, can send you details if interested. I also knew of a rebuilt engine and truck trans too, near Stonewall Manitoba... Quote
wmw453 Posted October 16, 2015 Author Report Posted October 16, 2015 thanks for the help guys I think ill try to track down a volare and use it as a donor. Fargos go far how far north are you in Manitoba? I lived pretty far north in Saskatchewan the last 2 years before moving back down to the Saskatoon area. I was north of laronge in the bushes Quote
1950 Special Deluxe Posted October 16, 2015 Report Posted October 16, 2015 Welcome from Saskatoon. If you do decide to go the /6 route, let me know. Mine still have the original engines and always on the lookout for parts. I have a 50 Coupe and a 52 1/2 ton. 1 Quote

Jim Shepard Posted October 16, 2015 Report Posted October 16, 2015 I've always thought the slant six would be a perfect fit (plus it's MOPAR). As I'm sure you know, there's a lot of speed equipment for these also. Maybe Tim will chime in of the K-member issue. He's done a couple of these and is pretty well-versed on the intricacies. I think he even has the templates for where to cut the frame... Quote

Darkrider Posted October 17, 2015 Report Posted October 17, 2015 Heh..welcome to the site from the Border City (Lloydminster)...I have pondered a couple engine swaps in my B1 as well...though more in the direction of Diesel power. Quote
glasspacks Posted October 18, 2015 Report Posted October 18, 2015 Chiming in from Victoria, I have contemplated a /6 swap for my 1941 Fargo, any information on engine length, hate to cut out the fire wall to fit it in. Bob Quote
