PatS.... Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 The one I have is taking too long, but this is in too nice a condition to pass up. Last licensed in '62. Virtually rust free...just a tiny bit on the drivers rear fender. Rockers and floors are solid. Straight Eight is there but dismantled. Plates are 1962! Didn't run when parked apparently:) Wasn't looking at all but it's parked right on the edge of the street not 10 blocks from home. It keeps calling to me:rolleyes: 1951 Buick Special DeLuxe Quote
greg g Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Ooooowwwwww a Dynslow. So fluid drive wasn't goofy enough fo you???? Looks like a decent ride, don't see many two doors. Looksl like you could get it in good mecanical condition and drive it. My uncle had one of similar vintage but his was a two tone four door. How about split exhaust on a straight 8??? Is it a dual carb edition? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Interesting......in Canada, a "Special Deluxe" .....in the US just a "Special" with the 3 portholes. 4 portholes = a Roadmaster here. In the late 1950s my parents owned a 1953 Buick Special 4 door....engine was good, the Dynaflow went out once. A nice car. Have fun. Quote
captden29 Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 pat, looks like a 51. i had the 4 door version that i bouight in sandiego in 1970 for $75 and i rebuilt the straight 8 and drove it home to long island, NY. kept it till 1995 aand sold it. great car. mine was a stick shift. i may still have a few parts for it so post again if you buy it and i will look in the garage. dennis Quote
PatS.... Posted June 29, 2007 Author Report Posted June 29, 2007 Greg, to be honest, one slowpoke is enough. I'm thinking 455/turbo400 and disc brakes, but all else stock. Bob, I can't find "Special" on it anywhere but the Buick site calls it a Model 48D Two Door Deluxe Sedan in the Special Series. Not sure if the Canadian models are different. http://buicks.net/years/51.shtml Thanks for the offer, Dennis. I found out today there are good grille parts in the trunk. It seems complete otherwise. Young Ed Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Only a true car guy would still have parts to a car he hasn't owned in 12 years! Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 A bit of work and the Buick could look like this. Quote
PatS.... Posted June 29, 2007 Author Report Posted June 29, 2007 That's a beauty, Don. I even have a set of 56 Caddy hubcaps collecting dust. Quote
greg g Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Do something unusual put a 440 and torqueflite in that sucka. Seen enough cars with Chebbie engines. Quote
PatS.... Posted June 29, 2007 Author Report Posted June 29, 2007 No Chebby, Greg. 455 Buick. There's one about 3 blocks from here in a 72 LeSabre. Been for sale for about 2 years $400. 440's are very hard to come by up here. All the Mopars that had 'em have rusted away. Seems the GM's lasted a bit longer. (the Fords of the era are gone too) I shoulda kept the 472 Caddy If I buy it on the weekend, it'll just get parked...got a Chrysler to finish first. Quote
Allan Faust Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 I love it Pat.... wish I could get one..... that or a merc.... its a beauty..... worst case, you sell the trim to a merc customizer..... DId I say I loved lead sleds???? Allan Quote
