Picked up a sweet P12 last week. Nice shape and  runs well.
The car was restored in the late seventies and has been well cared for. The original engine has been replaced with a later 251 flattie and the transmission is now a R10.

Needs a few repairs and I already have plans for some upgrades. I'll be asking a bunch of newbie questions, so please humor me.

Try to avoid newbie fever, where your mind is reeling with all the things to be done to your car right away.

Fix the necessaries, and drive the car for a while, to discover what you really need to fix or really want to improve.

Enjoy.

And let me add; welcome to the forum and this site.  Also check out the Off Topic forum for fascinating stuff.

That car is really nice!  Looks like it may have had a lot of loving care and attention before you got it.

I agree with Donald.  Just drive it a while and get a feel for it before you change anything.

Very nice looking car!  I'm in the same boat.  New vintage Mopar, lots of Noob questions.  Love learning!!  Everyone's been happy to answer questions here, and there's a wealth of prior info I'm finding in searches.

Like the dual carb setup!!  ;)

Thanks for the welcome.

The car has a few minor issues I want to clear up. The speedometer doesn't work, trunk lock isn't working, no tachometer and some slop in the steering  due to the steering box needing adjustment/rebuild. I will be driving it quite a bit as recommended before diving into anything else.
I plan to eventually install disc brakes (front) and a dual reservoir master cylinder on the car. An air conditioner is planned for later as well- it is hot in the Keys.

For right now, all I can do is look at it. I had shoulder surgery on Tuesday and won't be driving it for a while.

I noticed today that some jackass has found some old pictures of the car on the internet and has it for sale on Oodle Cars website. People today amaze me.

I wonder if it would do any good to report the matter to the local police ?  Perhaps money has to change hands before it is considered a crime . I remember a few years back when I had a home advertised for rent , someone else was advertising my house for rent on craigslist . I think that is what the cops told me , no money... no crime .  That is a very nice car , welcome .

I HAVE TO concur with Donald!

I got a BAD CASE of "newbie fever"...three times!  Now I have three "projects" is different levels of disassembly...and none of them are drivable!

Thanks God my wife loves me...

Congrates very nice ride! I got lucky also with a 51 Plymouth P22 with the R10 and Offy dual carbs.

That R10 makes all the difference in the world to me.

For me tires & brakes must be right before anything else is worked on, just my 2 cents.

Doc.

I completely agree with the AC and being hot in the Keys, the wife and I make road trips down to Key west a few times a year. I'm not too far north (West Palm Beach) and yes...its like an oven.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM first of all. Your purchase is a wonderful looking car wished I had found it first. lol When i purchased my first 48 Plymouth coupe I had just a little mechanical work to do but as time goes by I find that I want to do more and more up grades like disc brakes and ect. I hope you enjoy your car as much as I do enjoy my coupe and now the 48 Plymouth sedan. You will find that on this forum you can get multi answers to your questions you will just have to pick which route is the way you want to go. we give suggestions and tell our experiences with what we did but by all means it's your car and no one can make your mind up for you. read all the suggestions and answers you will get carefully and go with your best judgment.
