Tommy Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Picked up a sweet P12 last week. Nice shape and runs well. The car was restored in the late seventies and has been well cared for. The original engine has been replaced with a later 251 flattie and the transmission is now a R10. Needs a few repairs and I already have plans for some upgrades. I'll be asking a bunch of newbie questions, so please humor me. 5 Quote

Fix the necessaries, and drive the car for a while, to discover what you really need to fix or really want to improve. Enjoy. And let me add; welcome to the forum and this site. 46Ply Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 That car is really nice! Looks like it may have had a lot of loving care and attention before you got it. I agree with Donald. Just drive it a while and get a feel for it before you change anything. 1 Quote

thebeebe5 Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Very nice looking car! I'm in the same boat. New vintage Mopar, lots of Noob questions. Love learning!! Everyone's been happy to answer questions here, and there's a wealth of prior info I'm finding in searches. Like the dual carb setup!! Quote
Tatback Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 That is a sweet car! Congrats on the purchase, any hints on the upgrades?? Quote

Tommy Posted June 5, 2015 Author Report Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the welcome. The car has a few minor issues I want to clear up. The speedometer doesn't work, trunk lock isn't working, no tachometer and some slop in the steering due to the steering box needing adjustment/rebuild. I will be driving it quite a bit as recommended before diving into anything else.I plan to eventually install disc brakes (front) and a dual reservoir master cylinder on the car. An air conditioner is planned for later as well- it is hot in the Keys. For right now, all I can do is look at it. I had shoulder surgery on Tuesday and won't be driving it for a while. I noticed today that some jackass has found some old pictures of the car on the internet and has it for sale on Oodle Cars website. People today amaze me. Edited June 5, 2015 by Tommy Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 ... I noticed today that some jackass has found some old pictures of the car on the internet and has it for sale on Oodle Cars website. People today amaze me. I wonder if it would do any good to report the matter to the local police ? Perhaps money has to change hands before it is considered a crime . I remember a few years back when I had a home advertised for rent , someone else was advertising my house for rent on craigslist . I think that is what the cops told me , no money... no crime . That is a very nice car , welcome . 1 Quote

Now I have three "projects" is different levels of disassembly...and none of them are drivable! Thanks God my wife loves me... 2 Quote
doctor dirt Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 Congrates very nice ride! I got lucky also with a 51 Plymouth P22 with the R10 and Offy dual carbs. That R10 makes all the difference in the world to me. For me tires & brakes must be right before anything else is worked on, just my 2 cents. Doc. 1 Quote
Tatback Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 (edited) I completely agree with the AC and being hot in the Keys, the wife and I make road trips down to Key west a few times a year. I'm not too far north (West Palm Beach) and yes...its like an oven. Edited June 6, 2015 by Tatback 1 Quote
