So we have had our '50 B2B for a while now. We dont think the flat 6 is original and the transmission has been changed to a floor shift.

Here is the thing. The dip stick runs thru the block and into the pan where is all the other trucks I've seen the dipstick runs along the outside

of the block then directly into the pan. Maybe our motor came out of a car? Also the oil pan seems to be opposite of what it should be.

Is there a way to identify what our motor came out of?

Your thoughts..........

It sounds like you have a rear sump pan. You should have a front sump pan on your truck.

Look for the engine number stamped into the flat pad on the block, just below the head, above the generator.

to add to Merle a slight bit, in the absence of an engine model prefix stamped on the boss....could well mean a commercially built engine from a rebuilder ie Jasper or the likes...in which case look on the lower block just above the oil pan rail for a builders tag.  This tag could be either side of elsewhere mounted...generally on the rail somewhere..

How about posting some pics on here so we can see what ya got.

There's two dipstick styles that I know of,  one goes directly into the side of the pan through a welded on sheath, the other goes through a small hole through the pan casting boss, straight down into the sump.

Hey guys, thanks for your input. Here is the number on the block if that tells anything about the truck P15536697T.

I will post some pictures as soon as I have some.

Looks like you have a "stubby' dipstick. Is that the end of it down there?

This 'splains it then....The block dipstick hole just above the pressure relief valve must be for rear sumps, and the front sump pans must be "on the pan" only.
