Conn47D24 Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Hi Guys, I have the front end rebuild underway. The new coil springs I purchased from Andy Bernbaum are approximately 3/4 " - 1" SHORTER. Any thoughts on why, or are they wrong, or shouldn't worry about it ??? Please see attached pic ! Thanks !!!! Clay Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Perhaps Bernbaum would best be able to explain the springs...the rate could be same with the shorter height...but without the specs cards from each spring to compare anyone here would be guessing as you are right now yourself.. Conn47D24 Posted April 20, 2015 Author Report Posted April 20, 2015 yes, contacting Chris at AB now. He is checking on it. Thanks, I'll update this post. Quote
desoto1939 Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 I think my MOOG Suspension catalog might have a lsiting for this car. I will check and see if there is a MOOG front spring number. Rich HArtung desoto1939@aol.com Quote
desoto1939 Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Ok here is your answer: According to my Moog Coil spring catalog and suspention catalog Fron coil springs for Dodge 41-48 D19, D22, d24 All except 7 pass sedan and Limo use the MOOG number 730 for regular and and extra service and for Heavy Duty number 813 ALso for 1949 D29.D30 and 1950 D33 and D34 I do not have any information on the measurements but this might help you get the information for the correct size. You might also beable to contact MOOG and see if they can supply you with any other info and sixe in height. thickness of the the coil diameter of the coil. Rich HArtung Desoto1939@aol.com Quote
Ulu Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 OK, so they're shorter, but how does the wire diameter & number of coils compare? If it's thinner and the springs are shorter, you'll likely end up driving a lowrider. If there's more coils you might also get some coil-bind on a bump. (bottoming) Quote
Conn47D24 Posted April 23, 2015 Author Report Posted April 23, 2015 The NEW Coils are barely a mm thicker, and 1/4 " wide diameter. Quote
