ggdad1951 Posted April 13, 2015 Report Posted April 13, 2015 I would guess that too. My car has an exterior lock on both doors but you can still lock from the inside with the handle. you should NOT be able to lock the door and close it. Lifting the handle up should disable to latch from sliding back into the door. That way you cannot lock your keys in the truck. I can't check for certain, but I'm pretty sure that is how FEF is. True, If you lift the handle to lock the door, and then close the door, the handle will pop back to the center position. I believe the question was; .from the inside can you lift the passenger side handle up and lock it too? Reason I ask is Im on the hunt for new outside door handles and thinking I need just one locking for the drivers side and a non locking for psgr because I can lock it from inside My understanding is that he wants to find a locking outside handle for the drivers side so he can lock the passenger door from the inside then exit the truck and lock the drivers door from the outside. Didn't someone post that Mack Trucks have outside door handles that will work, and are lockable? Merle Edited April 13, 2015 by Merle Coggins Quote

NiftyFifty Posted April 13, 2015 Report Posted April 13, 2015 (edited) Yes, just want to lock it with the door closed from inside, and then have a lock on the drivers door to keep the truck secure. Looking at some of these "arched" handles from spaenaur. They have original looking handles as well, but no locks http://spaenaur.com/catalog/files/mobile/index.html#1155 True, If you lift the handle to lock the door, and then close the door, the handle will pop back to the center position. Barry Maxwell Posted April 13, 2015 Author Report Posted April 13, 2015 To All: I started this thread a number of days ago and it has taken some interesting twists and turns. To sum up where I am on this, my wife has agreed to work with me again (happily) on removing the latch mechanism and installing its replacement. At the suggestion of a Forum member, I contacted Mark (ggdad1951) and he has several mechanisms with springs. He will pick out the best one and ship it to me at a very reasonable cost. I would like to thank all of you for your posts on this thread. I know that I learned a lot and I'm sure that others have as well. Particular thanks to Davin for his willingness to provide replacement springs. That's all for now!! Barry 1 Quote
