Hey Fella's

Just picked this up last weekend!  Dropped it off at a friends shop to try and get running.  He was able to get it started and it sounded good!  Just ordered a new rebuilt carb (the one on it was trashed).  Can't wait to start getting it road ready and upgrading the brakes and rear end.  Of course I have some questions for y'all and I'll start a build thread as I go:

1.  For those who installed the front discs, will they interfere with clearance and are they compatible with the original rims?  I read some threads about the Rusty kit and that sound like a good way to go unless you can recommend another kit?

2.  Does anyone offer an 12v conversion kit with complete parts?  I recently sold my 1930 Ford Model A and there were plenty of kits with all components ready to install, just wondering if anyone had something like that available for the Dodge.

Great forum guys, I've been reading up on the improvements I want to make and I really appreciate the wealth of insight provided on this page!!!

Thanks,

Jim T

PS - I'll probably be selling the bed and rear fenders...can anyone tell me what would be a fair price I should list them for?

Welcome to the "Family". Nice truck. Why do you want to get rid of the bed? Got plans for something else back there?

Yes, Rusty Hope brake conversion is a good choice. I have it on my truck and am quite pleased. I had to use adapters to use my stock rims because my 3/4 ton truck has 5X5" pattern. Your 1/2 ton truck should have 5X4.5" so you should be fine.

I don't know of any 12V conversion kits for these trucks. In fact you won't find aftermarket parts as readily available as you did with your Model A Ford.

Good luck with your project, and keep us posted on the progress.

I will be cutting the cab about 10" back from the A pillars, removing the entire rear and putting a reproduction JT Cantrell wagon body on the back.  I'll have the entire rear window assembly and cab rear for sale shortly if anyone is interested.  I'll be keeping the steel doors until I finish the wood doors but they will be available too.

Can anyone tell me if that front bumper is correct?  Maybe from a different year?  I'm going to pull that and will need the front bumper with the 3 bumper guards on it if anyone knows where to locate one.

Yes, the Model A had it's advantages in both original and repro parts that's for sure!!!  I'm sure I can do a 12v conversion a-la-carte if there are no kits on the market.  Not sure if I'm keeping original dash or going digital yet.  Want to keep speedo original though.

welcome, Nice truck!  I await your build thread!

When you are ready to sell parts make sure to post them in the "Classifieds" section of the website!

The front bumper appears to be correct for your truck. It appears that someone has fabricated a guard and used it to push something, which bent the bumper down slightly. You may be able to cut off the home built accessory and clean up the bumper for future use. Finding OEM bumper guards will be a challenge, but they're out there if you keep looking.

If the price and the freight were right I'd bring it over to Oz!  Does it have the tailgate too?  :)  Martyn
