Uncle-Pekka Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 Couple more pictures after I lowered the front a couple of inches... The height is now in good balance. Not too low to my tastes. 1 Quote
pflaming Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 IMO '50's vehicles stood tall because of road conditions, Detroit snow, etc. lowered a couple of inches, to my eye, results in a better proportioned stance. I like the dodge look. 1 Quote
_shel_ny Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 Does anybody know if 47 DeSoto front fender trim fit my 48 Dodge front fenders? Would likely fit as I believe the sheet metal to be the same, but the profile of the stainless trim is different Dodge vs DeSoto vs Chrysler. Quote
pflaming Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 What shel states is true of Plymouth, you cannot mix and match 53/54plymouth dodge doghouse parts. I know, I tried. Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 ". . . Coon - finger. . .? Now that's a new one. From my Grandpa who hailed from the Illinois Ozarks (Rockwood / Cora / Jones Ridge / Ava area). From what a raccoon does when it finds something new, picks it up and turns it every which way to thoroughly investigate it. As Don notes, if its food, they'll wash it, too. (Give one a marshmallow, it'll wash it until all it has is sticky goo all over its little fingers. Its kinda mean, but fun to watch.) He raised a couple of baby raccoons one year, whose mother had been killed by a car. He'd take my brother and I to see them and tell us to "watch 'em coon-finger this", and toss them something to play with. 1 Quote
pflaming Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 "Coon-finger". The synonym I grew up with was "fiddle". A father would tell his daughter's boyfriend, "have a good time, but don't let me hear that you fiddled with my daughter". Coon- finger just doesn't have the same meaning in that sentence. "Piddled", another term however does fit. I think I would rather fiddle with my truck than coon-finger with it, but then, that's just me. LOL Quote
flutnie Posted March 9, 2015 Author Report Posted March 9, 2015 What is the best size modern tire to use on the ol girl? Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 Couple more pictures after I lowered the front a couple of inches... That is a nice, subtle lowering that almost looks like it was made that way. Although I prefer the "tall in the saddle" look these older cars have, I rather like how yours turned out. Quote

I too would rather fiddle with the ol' D24, as "coon-finger" sort of means I'd just be looking at it, which is sometimes all I do if I crack that first beer too early..... Quote

This went way off-topic, but I have to thank you Dan for expanding my vocabulary and introducing the ways of the raccoons... I spend a couple of hours watching raccoon clips on the utube and chuckling. Amazingly cunning creatures these are.. 1 Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted March 10, 2015 Report Posted March 10, 2015 What is the best size modern tire to use on the ol girl? Sorry for the raccoon side-roads... The close corresponding would be 215/75 R15, gives you 27.7" outer diameter. I run my D24 on these, no problems. Quote
