Guest Dodge Joe Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 What was the last year the 230 engine was used in trucks? The reason I ask is I have a 1960 Dodge D100 that has a 230 engine and everytime I go to the autoparts store the shows it to be a slant 6 engine for that year of truck. Did Dodge change engines in mid year? Joe Quote
Reg Evans Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 I've always heard that 59 was the last year for the flat head. Of course ,if I remember correctly ,I have forgotten 1/2 of what I've heard. What's the vin number? Is it a Power Wagon? I think Power Wagons came with a 251 or 265 c.i. engine after 1959. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Last year of the flathead is 59 for cars and 60 for trucks. I believe in 60 you could get either 6 or a v8. Quote
Guest Dodge Joe Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 My 60 is a D100 2 wheel drive has a flat head 230.. So 1961 trucks was the first year for slant 6? Joe Quote
greg g Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 I believe i have read that flaties were available in certain truck models through the late 60's. I think this was prevelant in military models. Quote
oldmopar Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 I have a 230 engine that came from a 1960 PW. It will be going in my 46WD21 Quote
