MartinsB3B Posted December 15, 2014 Report Posted December 15, 2014 Alright folks, my great great uncle brought a 1 ton stake truck pulling a trailer loaded with "junk" back in the '50s from california to Kentucky. Now in this "junk" was car parts and and they're abundantly strewn around the house he stayed in. One of these odd pieces is stamped "Trans. Hoist". I have tried Google, books, anything I can think of and find nothing. It's square tubing (looks like) thats almost an a frame with a steel cable on a pully that is ran by two gears. One of which has a 1/4" drive to raise and lower the cable. All I can think of is that this would be used in old trucks. Takw out the tranny plate in the floor pan and hook it to the trans and lower it out. Hopefully someone will have some insight on this. I can get pat number and maker later. Thanks! Quote

MartinsB3B Posted December 16, 2014 Author Report Posted December 16, 2014 I'm curious as to why that I can't find anything on this. No search revealed anything! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 16, 2014 Report Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) if I were to proffer a guess.....I would say it was for use in full size vans where the tranny is hoisted up when engine is removed, look at the width of the feet..just about right for the tunnel opening.. and as the division also had an industrial side it could well be use over there...
