BobT-47P15 Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 My daughter and son in law got me some old Plymouth magazine ads as a birthday present. The seller had put the date of the year of the magazine from which the ads came on the packaging. Anyway, the 1942 double page ad shows all models available for '42, including the Town Sedan. It says "Here's a smart new design to win admiration wherever you go...a low, rakish car...styled to stay beautiful for years to come! All Plymouths have rotary type safety door latches." It shows a four door car with non-suicide rear doors that open from the rear. I figure someone has some knowledge about that. Don't believe I've ever seen such an animal. I know Dodge made a town sedan in that era. Quote
1940plymouth Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 Bob, Found this. Looks like a 1942 front end Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 (edited) I think this came up one time long ago and that the only year Plymouth offered the TS was 1942...I would say this would be a very exclusive vehicle.. Bob, you brought this very subject up yourself it seem on my search in the archives...see this posting... http://p15-d24.com/topic/11674-which-body-style-is-this/?hl=%2Bplymouth+%2Btown+%2Bsedan#entry102159 Edited July 10, 2014 by Plymouthy Adams Quote
Furylee2 Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 They did. A member of the Prairie Region restored one in the 80's. Beautiful car! He wanted to sell me this car a few years ago. He's in his late 80's now. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 I looked at one for sale in Buffalo in the 1970's. Definitely an unusual Plymouth. Quote
TodFitch Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 For what it is worth, the Standard Catalog of American Cars 1805-1942 shows that there were 5,821 P14C four door Town Sedans built. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 11, 2014 Author Report Posted July 11, 2014 Interesting. Thanks for the info gentlemen. Quote
frankieflathead Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 (edited) I knew I had these photos somewhere, but I couldn't find them until now. Scans of 8X10 glossies of cabs in my hometown back then. Edited July 11, 2014 by frankieflathead 2 Quote
steveplym Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 That's a neat pic. I still love the looks of the town sedans. 1 Quote
