Just for the heck of it I went to MY PROFILE,

 

On the map shown on the right side of the page is my location in Modesto. Appeared to be downtown Modesto. That's about 1-1/2 mile south of my house. It appeared to be in the area of the county courthouse and jail! Been quite a few years since I was in either one. Last time was jury duty call about 5 yrs. ago.    Last time in them otherwise was much further back!

 

So I went to Members map and did a Real closeup on My location.

Showed me to be at an Carquest store across the street from the county jail

Very interesting, as my location on the map in my profile puts me within a few hundred yards of the Long Beach Courthouse & Juvenile Court! May be a default in the system.

Thats werid Doug...cuz my map puts me in a black Crown Vic wearing a nice suit and shades following you around town.......weriiiid. lol

Actually, the map puts me right in the town of Cheney, but I live eight miles East, out with the rocks and trees, deer, moose and Coyotes. But what is funny is that the blue dot does seem to be where the NAPA store used to be. ??

...Map...????  You guys must have some special tracking device attached or, perhaps, I am in a whitless protection programme and didn't know it...no map on my profile page.

Go to the "members" tab above then go to members map and add your location

I beleive the "Bing" mapping software uses the goegraphic center of each town as its locator. I just checked my location and its exactly the center of the town map.

It may use the location of your router. When I first moved to Fort Wayne I was staying in a hotel across town. I just entered the city and it located me at the motel across town from where my house was. When I finally moved into my house and added my address it located me close to my house but not exact.

Thanks Don. At first the locator had me out in a national forest so with some 'adjusting' I moved the dot closer to home.

Interesting to see where folks are located.
