J.R. Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 The victim...1950 Chrysler Windsor with cross type U-joints. I'm in need of new U-joints (mine are toast and can't be saved) but I am hard pressed to spend $175 each for them. Does anyone know of more readily available (ie. way cheaper) joints that will work or is there a conversion to a later model U-joint that will work with a slip yoke driveline and factory rearend? If I have to fab up some keepers that bolt onto the factory locations it shouldn't be a problem. Quote
Andydodge Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 Who and where have you tried?, being here in Oz I can't help but I'd be checking a bearing/universal supply shop, obviously all the Mopar suppliers, ie, Bernbaums, Roberts, Mitchells, Kanter, etc also checkout ebay.......$175.00 seems a bit high..are they a 1 yr only type?.......btw gidday from downunder............andyd Quote
50desotocoupe Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 I am going to go this route when/if my car needs them. http://www.driveshaftspecialist.com/Left-Column/Antique-Classics.html I originally saw a post regarding this place on the HAMB and the folks seem pretty pleased. Quote

Yah I gotta solution, it's a 48 Canadian Chrysler Windsor driveshaft, they use common Precision 369 u-joints. I happen to have this driveshaft, you could buy this one, or find another from Canada....you would need the yolk for the diff too...but very easy to get u-joints, used in 70 and 80s GM trucks Edited May 23, 2014 by Fargos-Go-Far Quote
