Dick41 Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 Hello All; Glad to be here. Lifetime Mo Par person. That is all my Dad bought too so I was brainwashed early on. Current project is a 1941 Plymouth Business Coupe. It has the correct P12 flathead 6 with 3 on the tree. The mill is weak in #6 compression. I am considering a swap to a 241 Dodge hemi which has a 3 speed standard (non fluid drive/non overdrive) tranny. I came to this forum looking for others who had done a similar swap...and I found them here! i posted some pictures of my cars in an album. I hope I did it correctly. Again....very glad to be here.. Already found lots of help. Dick41 Quote

Dick41 Posted April 21, 2014 Author Report Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) Hi All: Thanks for the nice welome. For Falconvan - Your white Plym in the picture reminds me of the 48 Plym. coupe that I ran at Fremont Drag Strip around 1959-1961. I swapped the mill for a Chrysler Spitfire 6. Nice easy swap, just had to put the radiator on the front of the mounting bracket rather than the rear. Don't remember what my time were but I won a few trophies with it. i am posting a picture of buddy of mine doing the engine swap. What a shame that all of us didn't take more pictures of our rides. These are the only two I have of this one. Thanks again everyone. I am still looking for the person that did the swap of a hemi into a 41 Dodge Business Coupe. That should be pretty similar to what i am contemplating. Dick41 Edited April 21, 2014 by Dick41 Quote

Don Coatney Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 Your car looks great. I also dropped a long block Desoto engine in my car. Quote
casper50 Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 Don where did you get the manifold setup? I've seen the split exhaust and dual carbs but not a set that still had the heat riser in it. Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 George Asche modified my original manifolds. There is no heat riser. The flap is welded internally to create a true split as pictured below. Quote
