Interesting article on the '39 Desoto business coupe.Thanks for posting ,I enjoyed reading it.

I know that car from way back when I first joined the car club I belong to, the Southern Alberta Antique and Classic Automobile Club (SAACAC) http://saacac.com/. I joined in 1976  and that car was in the club then. It was owned by Alf Rupp who farmed east of Champion, Alberta. He loved that car and drove it to lots of club events. When his health started to deteriorate I know he sold it to someone in the Red Deer/Edmonton area sometime in the 80's I believe. I do not know the history of the car before then. It does not say so in the article but it had, and still likely has, the overdrive transmission. That is why the present owner can drive it at 75 mph as stated in the article.
