CPicarello Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I'm new to this forum and glad to be here. I am about to replace the tires on my B3c. Currently it has 15" rims but I know the truck originally had 16" rims. Why did people convert to 15" and how difficult is it to find 16" rims for my truck. Also looking for recommendations on sourcing new tires/// 700 or 750 6 ply. Many thanks, Quote
navyboy Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Only one way to go is with firestone bias ply the best by far. Coker tires has them and can cross reference with what you are currently running. If you pay the 50$ like I did from the jalopy journal the discount you will get will be high enough to cover the 50$ plus knock atleast 30$ off the tires. Plus all future discounts from tons of other vendors. Look into it glad I did, just did it myself about a month ago. Quote
Lumpy Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Generally speaking, 15" are a little bit less expensive than 16"s, I can't think of any other reasons, certainly on a truck, as far as rims and tires go, bigger would be better. And sometimes people just go with what they have, or can get for free. I don't see any real difficulty finding 16" rims. I personally think a bigger rim and tire looks better. ken. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) Your B-3-C should have 15" wheels. That was standard with the 3/4 ton trucks. 16" wheels was the standard for 1/2 ton trucks. I am running 235/75-R15's Yokohama Geolanders on my B-2-C. By the way... Welcome to the family. Got any pictures? Merle Edited March 5, 2014 by Merle Coggins Quote
Lumpy Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Ooops. I was assuming 16" for the stock rim. Shows what I know! k. Quote

Charles Furman Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Unless you are locked in on the totally stock look and feel, I would highly recommend going with a radial ply tire. For the last 10 years, I have had 16 inch wheels on my 49 1/2 ton Pilothouse truck with 225/75R16 Cooper tires. They fill up the wheel well nicely and ride much better than the stock 600x16 bias ply tires. Quote
