I got mine from Steele Rubber and have no complaints, a one piece rubber that fit.  The price difference between these two is pretty significant which leads me to believe there are other differences besides price.   Just my 2 cents.

Why don’t you also get a price from Robert’s Motor Parts.

Seven years ago I got a windshield gasket from Bernbaum.  It was fine. I replaced the windshields myself.  My son helped me, it was the first time we had done one.  I don't think that  I would try it again.  It seems to be one of those jobs that a professional could do well in minutes, but my son and I wrestled with it for a couple of hours.  The end result was good, but if you haven't replaced a windshield before, I would recommend taking it to a glass shop.

My insurance is covering the replacement so I'm lucky there. I have a two inch crack in the center and no one will fix it because the glass is too old. Found a glass shop that will replace the glass but I have to get the gasket. I heard Steele has very good products but they just seem a little pricey.

Replacing the windshields is a spring project for our D24 this year - I would be interested in the "difference", too.  I've never had problems with AB's stuff, but have only bought the little bumpers from Steele.  I went with "cheaper" for the rear window seal on my daughter's Falcon and had some quality issues.

Don't know about windshield rubber but I can say that Steele Rubber for the rear window is the only way to go. I purchased two other cheaper ones for my d 24 and wasted my money.

Glass company replaced my split windshield. They ordered the gasket from Steele and they sent the wrong one. It was their fault (on a Friday) and they wouldn't ship it overnight. They waited until Monday to ship the good one.

It's really not to tough to replace a glass, you remove it from the inside. I reused my old rubber seal. I took my broken glass out and went to the local glass shop and had one cut, using the old glass as a pattern. Make sure the new glass is exactly the same size as what you took out or it will be a disaster trying to put the new glass back in. Ask me how I know.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE I CAN FIND A PROFILE OF THE WINDSHIELD GASKETS FOR MY 49 DESOTO CUSTOM COUPE, FRONT & REAR. I ALSO CHEAPED OUT & BOUGHT A SET FROM A GUY IN MASSACHUSETTS WHO IS ON E-BAY. I REMEMBER CHANGING ONE WHEN I WAS MUCH YOUNGER & THESE GASKETS JUST DON'T LOOK RIGHT. I might be able to clean & reseal the original one's but figured it would be smart to have a new set on hand before taking the windshields out.

You could try Andy Bernbaum's as they are in Mass... http://www.oldmoparts.com/parts-weatherstripping-chrysler-desoto-imperial-1940-1950.aspx

I got both the windshield and rear window seals from Bernbaum's. The wind shield was a big pain the rear!  They both leak a little but the car is always kept in the garage, and I just drive it on the nice summer days!  That's why I have not redone them yet. I installed them myself for the first and last time lol, I would definitely  have a pro install them if its your first time. Not sure if its a Bernbaum issue or first time install issue?

Indirectly I got my gaskets from Bernbaums from a seller on E-bay. I don't want to wind up like the member Ramon. I have small leaks now. The car is garaged but the first time I got caught in a rainstorm, I discovered that the front leaked & that was why the finish on the right side of the dash was damaged & the rear leaked across the rear shelf for the first time leaving water stains on my pristine original shelf. As I stated in my first post, the gaskets from bernbaums just don't look right. did you put a sealer in the gaskets

before you reinstalled them. I've bee3n trying to find a profile of the factory rubber.

I purchased an original shop manual & that has a section for windshield repair & replacement & the book recommends a sealer when you replace the glass or rubber. It also gives advice on opening up the rubber with a small wood wedge to put sealant in while or after the windshield is in. you might stop your small leaks like that.

I don't remember if it was one piece or not  but I got mine from Bernbaum, is been several years. I will have to try and squeeze a little sealer in the corners where it leaks. I am not taking it out to redo it! lol
