55 Fargo
Hi all, today I am having a good case of "Cabin Fever", had to drive the old truck. Drove 4 miles for gas, then down highway, and some on the country roads around here, . In 1 pic the GPS is 43 mph, had her up to 55 mph, but with both hands on the wheel. Truck starts and runs excellent, rides and drives not bad, vibration at about 45-55 mph, those darn bias tires. The snow is super crisp and dry, as it is 10 below, with a 30 below windchill, heater works well, but with no insulation in truck, and some drafts, a little cool. I had fun on a cold winters day. I know some would cringe, but these trucks were meant to drive, even in the super cold, now my garage is warm, I would not do this, if truck was outside, mind you have a good working block heater.... Don Coatney
What's the big deal? I just went out and drove my Gravley lawn mower a lap around the back yard and out to the street to pick up the mail with the blade engaged cutting grass (that needs to be cut) wearing shorts in icelandecic frigid 32F temperatures and it was a lot of fun. We could use a good laugh on a cold winter day

Plymouthy Adams
well Fred...while I admit I may get a day or two of adverse temps here in my local...lets just way on the average I can count on my two hands the numbers of days out of the year I cannot go out with a need more than a light sweatshirt...am glad you folks like or for maybe for a better description, can tolerate, or even worse accept for purpose of livelihood, the northern winters...l promise not to go into your local gas station and buy that last cup of cappuccino...though I have been known to tee off on a crisp 30 degree day for a 36-54 hole marathon...I have never had to hunt for a white ball in a field of white...and as the bumper sticker said, who do you know that retires and moves north.... 55 Fargo
Well Tim, it has been cold here for a lot longer than the Mayflower 1st arrived on the shores of North America, the Northern Sates have grown, and continue to grow, same thing with Canada, sure it's cold, but the economy is decent, and Canadas western provinces continue to thrive, especially Sask and Alberta. Sure we tolerate this in winter, and very few enjoy this type of cold, but we do not have earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, and very few tornadoes. Summers are hot and short lived, but you make the best of it. Cold places still retain their citizens, for example Minneapolis and Chicago, cold cities, big populations
52b3b
Hello together, what a coincidence wanted to look in the forum for the weather whats coming. Here in Germany the winter has been very tame. The last years were with lots of snow and cold. But I expect for a mid January winter, my grandmother always said, if it was cold in North America is that here also. The weather takes a week over the Atlantic. Let's wait and see what comes. I hope not, the heating costs will thank. Greetings Klaus

Germany's winter is not so bad as compared to the extreme northern US states and most of western Canada. Hope you keep your mild winter, and keep drivin your old truck.... This reminds me of a day of golf when I lived near Buffalo. It was a beauty of a fall day with sunshine and an apple orchard dropping yellow apples on parts of the golf course. Playing in a for-some with guys I worked with. One guy used yellow golf balls and I will let you guess where his shot landed. Could have made cider from his chip shots. One thing about Tennessee is the snow don't last long.

Hello Fargos-Go-Far, I just learned on TV that we currently have a world-weather-situation. Cold air flows to North America from the Arctic and warm air flows over Europe to the Arctic. Therefore, our winter is mild.
Plymouthy Adams
I consider sunshine and low 60's with no wind a very mild clime. Just returned from a nice walk through the woods...Now that hunting season is over...you don't dare enter the woods in this area during hunting season....stumbled upon some old farm equipment remains in the woods..may have to photograph it..first glance left me with no clue... Plymouthy Adams
Wind is fierce as I write this, blew the deck cushions into the yard. that is a new one..in the past you blamed the dog for puffs of air, strange noises and permeating odors they are calling for 7 degrees AM temp...if so that will be a severe change in ambient.....better carry in 4 pieces of wood tonight instead of the usual two

55 Fargo
Don and Tym, don't panic, this will be short lived cold in your areas, no need to thicken up the blood for this it will be short lived. Just came back from a drive in the Fargo, it's dark out, 30 below, went to see a fire that was burning, it was just the local dump burning some old mattresses and wood trash etc. Now 30 below in a vintage vehicle is a whole new experience.....
