those go on the top of the front fender in the rear by the cab.  Originally they were set with split rivets, but I had to pop rivet them on.  Unfortunately I don't have any good pictures of that area.

I know the spot you're talking about.  So I guess the fender has to be off in order to install it...right?

Do you think an adhesive be used so they could be installed while the fenders are on the truck?

Any idea on that other stuff I have?

I should have asked that question some years ago...

How long is that roll of stuff you got ?

I don't think an adhesive would do the trick, there can be some movement between the cab and fenders.  Best would be to take the fenders off.

Looks like Hank gets to take his truck apart too.  Misery loves company.

Please don't Mark it against me, I'll have to look. Actually I think I used Fender Welt...hum... Maybe That's what Squeeking ?

Actually I think my favorite part of the rebuild: That front clip went on an off a few times and that radiator support ?  Wasn't it just like that when I started ?

Hank  :)

Dave it's actually good practice to take your truck apart once in a while...might as well re-do the springs at the same time ?

The squeak may have rubbed the paint off somewhere.    Might as well pull the motor and trans and repaint them the correct color while you're at it. You're so close once the clip is off :)

I think I have at least 20 feet of the stuff shaped like a "T" with the triangle on top.

So are you guys saying that piece goes in the door jamb where the fender meets the cab?

Is there supposed to be any type of trim on the door where the glass slides down into the door?  Something that seals off the window so water doesn't drip down into the door?

not the door jamb, horizontally along the top of the front fender behind the hood wing.  I'll grab a photo real quick on the way out tonight and see if I can get it posted.

As for the window trim there is NOT a piece like in a modern vehicle to "squeegee" the water off the window...it rolls down in the door and out the drain hole....SUPPOSEDLY...there is a little fuzzy wiper, but it is not water tight.  Also why many doors have rust damage so bad on the bottom as water collects there.

BTW, the "T" shaped stuff isn't as "correct" as the shorter piece you showed in picture #2....FWIW

I took a gander at the '51 & the '53, and this rubber is intact but hard & brittle.  The original rubber appears to start at the rear of the fender as shown but terminates about 1" before the break at the fender edge & firewall radii:

A good body trim adhesive should be adequate for this rubber installation, carefully applied and using something like wadded up newspaper between the cab & the rubber.  This should allow for installation without pulling the fenders for mechanical fasteners.

Dan I guess I misinterpreted your intial question if in fact it is this fender filler you are concerned about.

As far as Window Trim goes, I'd say a discussion with Gary Roberts is the best way to assure you get the correct parts. There's more to it than you think.

I'd respectfully disagree they terminate where you suggest.  FEF's originals where still there and somewhat pliable still and go as far as I replaced them, there are even some holes for the rivets up that far.  I'd suggest the ones in your picture were either cut off or cracked off over time (that appears to me to be the case) to be back that far.  This piece of rubber acts as a gasket and between the two parts and should be the full length between the mating pieces.

As for fastening, personally, I'd not trust just an adhesive.  Since this is a "rubber" piece, the plastisizers in the material can do some wonky things to the adhesive.  But that's just me.
