I remember someone here converted their oil bath filter to a drop in pleated....

I've done that with mine. But I'd probably go with a K&N, or equivalent, cone filter with that setup. It would ensure good air flow and would match the customization.

I have always heard not to use K&N except for race or high performance, evidently their filtering mesh is much larger than most. Breathes better but takes in more dirt. Green filters are supposed to be better for the long haul.

Very nice. Being a turbo guy with my diesel stuff I absolutely love this. My plan has always been to supercharger my 265, but I need to build the vehicle that goes around it first.

Actually yes, he is a bit of my inspiration! Mine isn't built to wind up and make power, just to grab some extra torque and fuel mileage, plus its just plain cool! Theoretically forced induction on a poor flowing motor will make for huge gains in performance from naturally aspirated, and man does it do that! Only takes a couple pounds of boost through the stock engine...

When you get the system all set up and start making kits put me down for one.....OK?  I neeeed to put one on my Route Van, every little bit of extra horsepower is a big help moving down the road.

If there was a good market I probably could get stuff together and start building more! Problem would be finding more turbos like mine, its Subaru performance stuff that I paid $5 for!

Well guys, as much as I loved my turbo project I'm going to take it off. It works pretty well, and if anybody wants it I would consider selling it to put money towards my next adventure :)

For it to actually show it's colors I have to drive a tad more aggressively than I like, It would probably be great for a certain somebody's route van :rolleyes:

If anybody wants it, I will sell them the turbo, exhaust manifold, and the plenum that mounts on top of the carburetor.

I have seen the original oil bath air cleaner housing converted to HI flow. They used a K&N "X-Stream" filter, in the same diameter filter as the opening in the outer housing. Then fitted the X-Stream filter top/lid. So the center section of the oil bath air cleaner is replaced , but you keep the larger outer main housing. It's a 50/50 look, old school outer case with the modern center. Check out the k&n X-Stream filters you'll find a filter to drop almost straight in.

To each their own I have seen many conversions, they all work......so does the original oil bath filter, a little higher maintenance but every bit as good as a modern filter. 

Remember when these cars and trucks were built the interstate system was in its infancy and dirt/gravel roads were the norm. If it can filter out that constant barrage of contaminants then they can certainly handle hard city/concrete and black top paved surfaces.....with ease.

Don't overfill and it won't spill....lol.
